Letter from Scotty Boman urging
change to bylaws to enable members of the LP who are
also members of a nonLibertarian party the to be supported by LP
party affiliates:
### Dear national delegate: Many active Libertarians also In viewing suggested bylaws changes, I cam
accross this one. I
think it is important that we all vote in favor of this change.
We don't want to exclude
qualified people from being candidates just because they have
dual membership. In Scotty * 61. AFFILIATE PARTY ENDORSEMENTS
(Recommended 8-0) Solution: Free affiliate parties to endorse
Libertarian Party members who also have ties with other parties. Note: Affiliates would still be free to
endorse anyone they choose in non-partisan races. -------------------- ARTICLE 6: AFFILIATE PARTIES Current text: 4. No affiliate party shall endorse any
candidate who is a member of another party for public office in
any partisan election. No affiliate party shall take any action
inconsistent with the Statement of Principles or these Bylaws. Proposed text: "4. No affiliate party shall endorse any
candidate who is not a member of either the Libertarian Party or

Note
from the Chair THREE ITEMS OF INTEREST THIS WEEK: 1. Today, we were informed that many of the
delegates to the national convention have yet to register with
the convention organizer for a convention package.
Go to
http://www.denverlpcon.com/attendeeinfo.html to view
the available convention packages and register.
Remember, registration as a delegate and convention
registration are two different things (and different lines to
check in at the convention).
You are receiving this message because you have been
selected as a Delegate or Alternate, but that is not
confirmation that you have purchased a convention package from
the convention organizer. 2.
On Monday, former Congressman Bob Barr officially threw
his hat into the ring in the race for the Libertarian Party
Presidential nomination, generating much media interest.
For example, see
http://www.campaignsandelections.com/stories/?StoryID=E2AF09F2-1422-17E0-F8B248E930A13F68
Many of the blogs frequented by Libertarians question
whether he is "libertarian enough" to win the Party nomination,
while others point to his intriguing prospects for obtaining
votes in the general election.
You need to be in 3.
A message from our current Regional Representative to the
Libertarian National Committee, Emily Salvette, regarding an
important meeting at the Convention: Dear
Region 3 delegates and alternates: It's
almost time! The national LP convention in At the
national convention we will need to caucus to select another LNC
Representative and Alternate.
[Good news!
Mark Schrieber of KY, who is also the campaign manager for Wayne
Allyn Root, has offered their room for our Friday evening caucus
so we don't have to meet in the hallway.
We may use it from 6-7 pm.
The
suite is downstairs next door to the media suite and very
convenient. Look
for the Region 3 sign.] Rebecca has agreed to step up to
the Region 3
Representative spot, but we are still looking for an Alternate.
If you are interested, please let your state chair,
Rebecca or me know. I
realize there is a lot going on Friday night; I don't expect
this caucus to take too long (maybe 15 minutes). Some have
expressed interest in having a conversation about regional
strategy issues. At
the Friday meeting we can set another time during the weekend to
meet for an extended time and really talk about how we can share
resources and build all the organizations in our area. Thank
you again for your support of liberty in your states.
Safe travels to —Emily
